My first ever 3D model was this version of Link, I reimagined the different camera angles and everything.
Some time ago I felt like traditionally animating that same concept art and used TV Paint Trial for it. This software had been in my list of interests for the longest time.
I did the usual Basic Rough > Cleanup > Colour Fill > Shadows > Details and the software turned out pretty good and easy to use, I will have to try the newest version of it. Or perhaps try Toon Boon Harmony.
This was a test for Socialpoint, a videogame developer company in Barcelona.
I was tasked with making a static and animated promo for their Firekong monster.
The only graphics that I generated were the background, CTA button, flames, sparks, and catchphrase. They provided me with the character and FX sprites which I blended together.
An animation done for a small campaign called “Change your Brush”, by Conair.
I wasn’t part of this project until they asked for my opinion, and given the graphics made by the designer I gave them my suggestions. They ended up giving the project to me and this was the result.
I had the designer made the character in a very specific way so I could try an After Effects plugin called Joysticks n’ Sliders, a plugin that unfortunately I haven’t really used.
The extra elements have a wiggle expression.
1118 is a Jewish telephone therapy line intended to help the community in any way possible.
I really liked the style and animation, cutout-ish.
I worked alongside a designer to make this video, we worked on the storyboard, he did the frames, and I animated everything. I also asked for some extra shots because I wanted the 3-frame animation look.
#SalvemosAlPlastico was a campaign to stop the ban of plastic bags and pet bottles in Mexico, this was the original idea for the client to present as a pitch to the ANIPAC (Plastic Association) and then the Senate. At the end nothing happened but the video remains.
I made this project alongside another animator and a designer, with whom I drafted out the storyboard so he could more easily create each frame for us to animate. We always split the projects in 2 to finish the animation faster.
I used Rubberhose to rig the characters and a bunch of different effects to animate fire and water, for example.
The HLA was an association founded by a group of rising hyperloop developers, one of them was Zeleros (the one I was part of).
The logo was designer by my colleague Empar Martí, and this was the definitive animation I did for it.
I’m including a couple of extra sketches; I liked the direction of the 2nd but not for this logo.
Beowulf 2007 inspired me to make this loops in Flash CS6.
I really like the idea of a static scene with only a couple of animated organics.
My colleagues wanted to improve our RRSS interactions so they came up with a plan, and to this plan I suggested adding custom GIFs of out own that could be used on Instagram Stories.
They agreed and we decided to give it a shot. This is the first batch of gifs for social media.
Triangle Three was a quick “ode” to Twilight Princess, done in Flash CS6.
For a while I’ve had the idea of doing the “Skyward Rock” sign and being imbued with the power of Metal by raging thunder.
I don’t usually illustrate but this is always my go-to style, when it can be used of course.
I made the graphics in Illustrator and animated in After Effects, where I used DUIK to rig the characters.
I came up with those 2 logos for “future use, just in case. To have a starting point” and while the squared one was instantly rejected you can see the logo being used in the top left corner of that sign, which is in the port of Sagunto.
I came up with these initial 2 designs for SELF.
Cert Superior offers SSL protection for your website.
They wanted some brief animations for social media and the main designer gave me the graphics for animation.
All done in After Effects.
Sauron’s eye icon, from The Lord of the Rings Conquest.
The idea of an all-watching flaming eye has always been cool to me, and being a fan of The Lord of the Rings it was about time to animate something related to it. The lava look was a pretty cool detail.
To make this “lava” effect I used Particular, Fractal Noise, Simple Choker, Roughen Edges, and Echo that I learned from a French tutorial I stumble upon some days prior. Pretty sly tutorial.
Another quite fun Skillshare class, and the first time I used nothing but shapes from After Effects.
The idea of the class was to achieve a certain trendy look and loop it out. The original idea was to have a bunch of eyes and then have some fingers push them out into a text. I had a different idea that worked out without breaking any rules.
This is Gaius, the 3rd Colossus you fight in Shadow of the Colossus.
Its silhouette has always been imprinted in my mind, so I decided to vector and animate it. I made a list of several videogames I wanted animated in 2D and this was the very first entry.
To vectorize it I used a still from the intro of the battle, then DUIK to rig the model.
Skillshare gave me 3 free months and this is one of the classes I chose, I was more interested in the workflow to export each gif than the actual animation but the class was overall pretty fun.
I used this pack
Apparko is a platform to ease the parking system and gift the consistent citizens with a variety of discounts. They needed a pitch video delivered in under 2 hours and this was the result.
I worked alongside a designer, he made the storyboard and frames and I animated them.
Maim is a household water purifying system, this is an extract of the Pitch.
I was part of this project only to refine certain details, and only did a couple of scenes myself. The designer gave me the graphics.
I used DUIK for rigging the characters.
The first of a series of videos, this was the pitch/pilot video.
We had a meeting to sketch down how the whole series would look like, they wanted it to look as if everything happened inside a computer but didn’t want it to look like a Matrix tryhard. It needed to be simpler.
I came up with the idea of using a bunch of glowing lines, it turned out to be quite fitting and we proceeded to make the storyboard. They changed their mind later on after 3 videos were made.
I was given the graphics for animation, rigged with DUIK and duplicated the precomp to get rid of the flatness.
KVAZAR is a shortfilm I participated in, made by a couple of very talented friends (Alan and Eric). I was supposed to do more than just participate but, well, life is life.
I helped come up with the story, characters, and environments. It was a brainstorm between the 3 of us and what I’m posting here is merely my participation except for the ship concept art that later made it to 3D.
I did the main character 3D model and rig, it then had some adjustments made by Alan, who was in charge of rendering and also modeling. Eric was in charge of texture maps.
I also did the 3D model and rig of the final ship.
Everything done in Maya and rendered with Arnold.
Systemtech was a very sudden client that needed a video done in less than a couple of hours. They only wanted the basics to pitch their app.
To get it done I got a bunch of svgs from Flaticon.
To animate the hand I used Puppet Pins.
Rocalta (later known as CDMEX Providencia) makes cheaper and more accessible houses for people in need. I was given this project by the head designer with all the graphics from the original pdf pitch.
They wanted a video for that pitch to promote on their website.
Getting the graphics out of the pdf wasn’t much of a problem, I just had to divide further certain things for better animation.
I rigged the characters with Rubberhose and got the extra elements from Flaticon.
Some of the Skillshare multi classes I had, pretty fun to do.
We had to define a subject, then make a bit of lettering, and then a layered animation.
Other than the scanned images, everything was done in Photoshop.
I was asked to do several simple gifs for a mailing campaign. They gave me pictures of the objects and asked to add some extra elements in the background.
I isolated every part of the object in Photoshop and animated everything in After Effects. I had a designer suggest the extra elements because mine were a bit too overkill for a mailing campaign.
Butch was the main character of an 80s-vibe shortfilm, where I wanted to mix 2D and 3D.
I never finished the script because of time limitations but the draft tests endured.
I animated the 2D character or any organic thing in Photoshop and the 3D motorcyle or any inorganic thing in Maya.
Part of the Ciberseguridad series, this video talks about a system that further improves the way an establishment or brand interacts with their customers.
I did the storyboard alongside a designer, then he gave me the graphics needed for animating my part of the video.
Everything was done in After Effects, rigged with DUIK.
For this quick freelance the client briefed me and in a matter of hours I had it done. They wanted something simple about their process of installing access systems.
I suggested an isometric look with quick closeups for details and found the graphics in freepik.
Part of the Cibersecurity series, this video talks about one of their services that offer specialized network especially during rush hours.
I was given the graphics to animate and had to make some new ones for specific parts of the video.
Everything done in After Effects.
Part of the Cibersecurity series, this video talks about a service that offers nationwide security, including a variety of approaches to determining threats.
I was given the graphics but had to edit them and make some new ones, also this video looks nothing like the original idea and pitch and changed even more afterwards.
Everything was done in After Effects and rigged with DUIK.
Efrat is an organization based in Israel that was made with the sole purpose of avoiding the most abortions possible.
I was given the graphics to animate my part of the video.
All done in After Effects, and rigged the necessary characters with DUIK.
Posters of movies I really like, the idea came from a university class I had around 2011 where they wanted us to recreate a movie poster in Photoshop. I’ve always liked minimalistic design but it wasn’t what was expected of the project so I had to stand down until recently when stumbled upon a class in Skillshare with the setting I wanted. It was fun.
Some years ago I rushed an illustration and this “style” came out of it; I quite like it. Like badly cut-out or something.
A bunch of illustrations depicting my joy for solid colours and flat layers.
